Our entry-level Merida Scultura Rim 100 road is a great mid range road bike is the ideal place to start if you want to log some asphalt miles and also ideal for most riders. The rim 100 road bike combines a light weight 6066 triple butted aluminium frame with internal cable routeing and a lightweight complete carbon fork, all while using geometry that is more conservative than the current top models.

In comparison to an aluminium fork, the carbon fork reduces overall weight, offers precise steering, and offers better vibration absorption.

The CF2 and aluminium SCULTURA versions keep their slightly more relaxed geometry rather than the more aggressive and race-proven geometry of the CF5 and CF3 variants.

We provide our bikes in this family with strong, simple-to-modulate disc brakes that provide consistent braking power even in damp circumstances, or the more expensive rim brake alternative. Our CF2 and aluminium models are excellent for riders just starting out in the sport as well as for those who prefer a little more upright position when hitting the lanes due to the less aggressive design.

• The process of hydroforming includes inserting tubes into moulds that are negative. They can be moulded into intricate shapes by being driven through a hot emulsion of water and oil under pressure. Technoforming is a mechanical forming technique that shapes the tubes using negative moulds and, occasionally, an interior metal core.
• Smooth welding, also referred to as double pass welding, refers to a second pass over the weld to give the frame a smooth, organic appearance; at first glance, you will be convinced it is carbon rather than aluminium.
• Tubes with two different wall thicknesses—thinner in the middle and thicker at the ends—are referred to as double or triple-butted. In order to maximize strength, where it is required while minimizing weight in places subjected to less stress, tubes with three distinct wall thicknesses along their length, are said to be triple butted.
• Our aluminium is heat-treated throughout. To prevent the alloying elements from precipitating, frames are heated to extremely high temperatures (a T6 temper) and then immediately cooled in water or oil. After that, frames are heated to a lower temperature, which artificially ages and greatly strengthens them.
